Za'atar native to the middle east, and similar to thyme and oregano, is a herb that grows wild in the hills of Lebanon, Syria, Isreal and Jordan. We have created our own mix which includes herbs like thyme, oregano, coriander, cumin, sumac, isot peppers and mixed with our everything BLEND...oh and let's not forget our favourite ingredient MUSTARD powder..
Best with roasted vegetables and manakish (flatbread). One of its most traditional uses is sprinkled over labneh (I call it yogurt cheese) creating a robust dip for pita bread. Other great pairings- egg topping, hummus topping, crackers and most meats especially chicken and lamb.
